price is going to vary by location – my top of the line products are typically around $3000 per aid.
I do not currently dispense starkey aids – but I have hearing loss and currently wear Starkey Destiny 1200 hearing aids and love them. It was my first High End digital product and I noticed a remarkable improvement in background noise with those hearing aids.
Starkey is one of the leading hearing aid manufacturers in the world. Audio-tone is not a well known hearing aid manufacturer and is more than likely a private label. Private label hearing aids are when the hearing aids are made by a hearing aid manufacturer and then the businesses own name/label is put on the hearing aids. You don't really know who is manufacturing private-label hearing aids.
If you have been recommended an Audio Tone hearing aid, I would inquire about who actually manufacturers this hearing aid.

The Starkey Aspect is an amazing hearing aid for people with a mild to moderate hearing loss. It is especially great for patients with a nerve loss at the high frequencies and good low frequencies.
They offer it in two flavors. Once is a three channel and the other is an eight channel. The former is good, and the latter is excellent because it uses the Axent technology which was Starkey's best.
However just around the corner (probably by the end of the year) there are plans afoot to put the new nFusion technology into the same kind of device. This will probably be three times more effective than the current system (many technical reasons why).
While I am not one to advise people to wait on technology (you could wait forever), in this case the new system will be so much more advanced it is probably worth waiting a few months. That said it is bound to be way more expensive than the current two models. But that said those other two models may come down in price when the new one comes out.
Starkey is one of the largest hearing aid companies in the world. I've been dispensing their products since 1994, and I am more impressed with them than any other brand.
The comment that the ones they give away are unreliable is ridiculous. They have a charity wing that gives away hearing aids to impoverished people around the world. Many of these aids are pre-owned, donated and are not even made by Starkey. They have given away 200,000 hearing aids since 2000. It seems pretty silly to be criticizing them for their charity work.
Check out their new nFusion technology, it is really something.
